Forestweb is the name of a website that was established with the purpose of providing courses about sustainable forestry via internet. E-learning or distance learning is considered an essential part of the so called blended learning method already used in many non-formal and formal educational systems. Forestweb originated as a Leonardo-project with the common goal to create a European network of knowledge on forestry and providing high quality education in sustainable forestry through internet. Inverde was one of the 9 partners of 8 European countries who participated:
The target group for this project was divided into two groups: forest workers and vocational students in forestry on the one hand and forest owners and forest teachers on the other hand. Based on a needs’ analysis of the target groups and on the current knowledge of the partners involved, a total of 18 different modules were developed:
